Be Spiritually Minded Yourself • Parents must set the right example of spiritual-mindedness (Deut. 4:9; 6:1-9; 11:18-25; 32:46; Prov. 20:7; 31: 28; 2 Tim. 1:5) • Children become what their parents are, not what their parents claim to be • Children expect their parents to “practice what they preach”

  7. Control Worldly-Minded Influences • Parents must be mindful of worldly-influence and give their children refuge from it (Prov. 14:26) • Negatively, parents keep their children from worldly influences (1 Cor. 15:33): worldly friends, media, Internet, technology, etc. • Positively, parents surround their children with spiritual influences (Heb. 10:25): the assembly, extra spiritual opportunities, home activities, etc.

  8. Pray For Your Children • Parents must pray that their children will obey God’s word (1 Chron. 29:19) • Parents must pray for wisdom to raise their children the right way (James 1:5)
