Proterozoic Atmosphere • The atmosphere is still mostly nitrogen, with wisps of water vapor and carbon dioxide.* • Though, now, oxygen is starting to appear! It’s not enough for us to breath during our visits, but it’s there. Mesozoic Climate • The climate is so nice and warm and there are no ice caps-- even on the poles! The ferns grow rapidly due to moisture and rain so everything is huge. geography.berkeley.edu

In this era, mammals are thriving. After the extinction of the dinos, mammals came to dominate the planet. Mammals started out pretty small, even mouse-like, but throughout the era, the grew and evolved into the animals we know today. About only two million years ago, humans started to appear.
