It is incomplete and in great need of revision, both of which I shall see to eventually... Once upon a Monday dreamy, while I thought no-one could see me, I wed my cousin down in Richmond, the Clerk of Court I did implore, “Sir,” said I, “she’s nearly thirty,” and said he, “She’s awful perdy,” I excused his dreadful grammar as I walked across the floor, “We’ve a license we applied for nearly half a year before.” Quoth the Clerk, then, “What’s it for?” “Why, a marriage,” I said clearly, then said I, and most sincerely, “We’ve been waiting here since morning and it is, now, nearly four, “My young bride is growing weary, and I fear she’ll soon grow teary, “Should our wedding not take place now that we’ve made it through your door. “Should we leave this place unhappily as unwed as before.” Quoth the Clerk, then, “Wait no more!” I have been doing my best to attend to my studies; however, it is becoming increasingly clear to me that gambling is a far more enjoyable enterprise. Due to my incessant engagement in this activity, my debts, unfortunately, appear to be mounting. I shall spend the remainder of the afternoon composing a letter to Mr. John Allan—a letter with such earnest pleading, dripping with sentiment, that, upon receiving it, he cannot but agree to oblige my request for financial assistance.
