Circle Investigations • Items: • Bike Tire, Cookies, fris-bee, baseball, watch, key ring, ring…..etc • Ruler, pencil, and paper • Data recording sheet • Computer Lab (Fathom)
Objectives • Mr. Yates wants to know why in the world that C=2(pi)r? • You and your group must present an investigation plan, data recordings, and a written explanation to the question.
Measurement • Your group must bring in a variety of shapes that are circles of different sizes. • In class your group will make measurements of all the different circles. • On the data sheet, you must record the circumference, diameter, and the radius of each circle
Data Analysis • Use fathom to plot all the data you have recorded. • Construct graphs of all your variables • Construct graphs of multiple variables as well • Focus on the following relationships with the graphs: • ● x:Diam y:Circ ●x:rad y:Circ ●x:Rad y:Diam • Write down all your observations of the relationships between the different variables.
Conclusions • Form multiple conclusions from your data • Write a written explanation of your groups initial predictions, data recordings, and Fathom work. • Be sure that your groups explains the regression line equations and the value of the slope for each relation • Make a final analysis • Does it all make sense
