Purpose • A website is always designed with a purpose in mind. In your Unit 1 exam you will be given a client brief, and you will have to design a website which suits their purpose and their audience • The purpose is WHY the website is being designed. It could be • To convey a message • To advertise a product • To inform or educate • To persuade • To entertain

Target Audience • Not only do you have to think about the purpose of the website, you must also think about WHO it is aimed at. • This could include • Children • Adults • People interested in a certain topic • People who have shared interest
What is their level of literacy/ language skills? Interests Gender Age Who will use the product? Target Audience What do they want from the product? How much they know already? What will get them to investigate further? Are they beginners? Are they experts?
