Calice Tile-HCal and Tail-catcher/Muon Tracker

This project aims to develop a test beam setup and simulation software for the Tile-Cal and Tail-catcher/Muon Tracker (TCMT) components. The construction and optimization of the Tile-Cal and TCMT, as well as the cost estimates and schedule, are discussed. The project highlights the international collaboration involved and the future plans for exposing the prototype to a hadron test beam for validation of simulated shower data.

  14. Status and Plans • Tile-HCal prototype has entered its construction phase. • Unique in its ability to explore the whole range of readout options from the purely digital to the fully analog • Inclusion of a tail-catcher/muon tracker for studying shower tails, leakage and muon identification/reconstruction in the PFlow paradigm will allow the full realization Calice test beam program. • Program has nurtured and benefited from its truly international character. This trend is expected to intensify…. • The next step is the exposure of the prototype to a hadron test beam to not only gain operational experience but even more importantly test, influence and validate the hadronic shower simulations leading to further development of PFlow algorithms. • Need to take test beam together with the ECal in the period 2005-2006 if conceptual detector design choices are to be made in time for the proposed 2015 start of the LC.
