History • In 1982, while on a visit to the USA to investigate Christian Education, Pastor Ron Robinson of New Creation Ministries, came across the ACE programme in Texas. • October 1983, A.C.E. Administration Office set up in the home of Ashton Sparrow. The King’s School (Robin Hills) Pre-Primary opened. • 17 January 1984.First A.C.E. School in South Africa – The King’s School (TKS) – Craighall Park, Johannesburg. Grade 1 to 7. 44 pupils.
May 1989,after major disputes between government and ACE a decision was taken to change name from A.C.E. (S.A.) to C.E.S.A. • C.E.S.A would be an umbrella body for Christian private schools despite differences in methodologies used by various schools. From this time on, methodologies and curricula used by C.E.S.A. schools were NO LONGER UNIFORM. C.E.S.A. schools no longer equivalent to A.C.E. schools.
September 1992 C.E.S.A.T (Transvaal) was formed. This would be a separate decentralized body which would still function as part of C.E.S.A. but would handle their own finances and administration – 25 schools registered. • 19 February 1993, C.E.S.A.T. leaves C.E.S.A. Becomes A.C.S. • 1998, A.C.S.I. Head Office in America visited by Ian Vermooten.

1999, Dr Ken Smitherman, President of A.C.S.I., and Dr Phil Renicks, Vice-President, International Schools, visit South Africa on invitation of A.C.S. • 2000, All Africa Educators’ Conference – Hatfield, Pretoria • 2001, A.C.S. joins A.C.S.I. First office established in home of Jill Battle, Johannesburg North. Allan Sutherland appointed Director. Samson Makhado Assistant Director.
2001, Angie Pape appointed as Early Education Director • 2005, Anna-Marie Russell appointed as Director: Academic Affairs • April 2007, Africa Round Table • July 2008, Samson Makhado appointed Director for Africa and Anna-Marie Russell appointed as Regional Director for South Africa. • July 2008, Establishment of the ACSI SA Advisory Board
January 2011, Establishment of the ACSI Office in Kinshasa in the DRC
The dream: It is our dream to be an association speaking with a viable and authoritative voice in education in South Africa, consisting of effective Christian schools in all our provinces, that are recognised as essential and contributing to the public good of our country.
