Forest Facts: • Established in the 1930s Land Ownership The Forest is comprised o just over 1.5 million acres in 11 northern Wisconsin Counties and 65 Townships.

Forest Facts: • Located in 11 northern Wisconsin counties and 65 townships • 9 District Offices and a Supervisor’s Office.
Chequamegon • The Chequamegon portion of the forest comprises three units in the north-central part of the state totaling 865,825 acres • Local ranger district offices in Glidden, Hayward, Medford, Park Falls, and Washburn. • The Great Divide Ranger District includes the counties of Ashland, Sawyer, and Bayfield. • The Medford-Park Falls Ranger District has two separate units within the forest and manages lands in Price and Taylor counties. • The Washburn Ranger District, Wisconsin's northernmost U.S. Forest land, oversees federal property in Bayfield County, which includes the Rainbow Lake Wilderness and the Moquah Barrens Wildlife Area.
Nicolet • The Nicolet covers 664,822 acres • Ranger district offices are located in Eagle River, Florence, Lakewood, and Laona. • It is located in parts of Forest, Oconto, Florence, Vilas, Langlade, and Oneida counties.
