At-A-Glance – Key Historical Events • 2008 • The Kresge Foundation’s “Getting the Lead Out: Keeping Kids and Communities Safe” awards funds to support lead poisoning prevention. • Grantees included Wayne State University (database development), CLEARCorps Detroit (abatement), and DHWP (coordination). • Detroit/Wayne County Lead Collaborative founded. • 2010 • Conference of Mayors adopted a resolution supporting efforts to increase green and healthy housing. • The Kresge Foundation funds the operation and management of the Detroit-Wayne County GHHI Collaborative. • Expansion of Detroit/Wayne County GHHI Collaborative to include additional partner organizations. • 2009 • National Council of Foundations discusses coordination of funding and activities related to lead poisoning, weatherization, and other housing efforts. • Foundation representatives announce a national government-philanthropic effort: The Green and Healthy Homes Initiative (GHHI). • Detroit/Wayne County Lead Collaborative Partners become the Detroit-Wayne County Green and Healthy Homes Collaborative.
