  1. Crime Week! To have this much fun is criminal…

  2. Year 7 – which stories are being described here? • Heir to the throne poisoned by one of her five a day! • Abandoned children face danger from an old lady in a tasty house! • Blonde youth breaks into house and causes mayhem! • Newly reunited girl and parents separated by unfortunate spinning accident!

  3. Year 8 • Alerted by neighbours that haven't seen their neighbour for weeks the police break into his apartment. In one room totally empty of furniture they find a large empty suitcase, in the other totally empty room they find a man hanging from the light cord with his feet a long way from the floor. The door between the two rooms was shut. How could he have managed to hang himself? • The suitcase contained a huge block of ice, which he removed from the suitcase and stood upon, until it melted.

  4. Year 9: Write the next sentence for these sentences from crime novels: • “We were about to give up and call it a night when somebody threw the girl off the bridge.” • “When he shows I’ll say: ‘Good day, a bouquet for Mr. Hovgaard.’ Then you shoot him. Understood?” • “There are two kinds of people who sit around all day thinking about killing people...mystery writers and serial killers. I'm the kind that pays better.” • “I covered the body with a rug. You think I’m an idiot?”

  5. Year 10 – quotations on crime – how true are they? • “Good. Illegal is always faster.” • “Crime is a product of social excess.” • “The cure for crime is not the electric chair, but the high chair.”

  6. Year 11- How true are the following statements? • “Criminals should be punished, not fed pastries.” • “Crime is nothing but misdirected energy.” • “Make crime pay. Become a lawyer.”

  7. Year 12

  8. Is this what you expected? • Which statistic is most surprising? • How safe is Kingston, do you feel, compared with London as a whole? • How would you use these statistics to inform lower years?

  9. Year 13 • “Poverty is the parent of revolution and crime.” • How true is this statement? Given that crime is perceived to be rising, how would you tackle crime?
