  2. Who Are We? Pembe Hanım is a patients’ association. Our members include patients, patients’ relatives, physicians, business women, psychologists, psychiatrists and communicators... Our Mission: To advocate patients’ rights, and ensure that experienced institutions and patients become solution partners in developing a cancer policy in our country. To be an association that has a word in national and international platforms, developing collaborative projects with other associations and contributing to the international education and awareness programs. Our Vision: To build awareness on healthy living throughout the community for protection against cancer, and make known that cancer is a curable disease. To lead national health policies in favor of cancer patients, and be involved in lobbying activities. To provide accurate information to patients and their relatives, give the moral support they need, and advocate rights of patients.

Campaign for WOCD • Two patient advocacy groups, The Association of Mrs Pink and The Breast Health Society worked on Mother’s Day together for awareness about women cancers: breast & ovarian. • Istanbul City Sea Transportation supported the event. • In a ferry, making journey among Beşiktaş and Kadıköy piers (one of the most circulated line of Bosphorus) a flashmob emphasizing the importance of early diagnosis in BC and awareness about symptoms of OC was staged during the day. • In the screens of the ferry «all about to know about women cancers» film ran http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1g9n3IICBAY • Brochures about breast and ovarian cancers were distributed to the passengers.

Media Reflections The nation-wide TV news channels NTV, TRT, Star, A Haber, Kanal 7 and TV Net presented the campaign in the news widely and two news channels TV 24 and Ülke TV broadcasted the campaign live. • Printed media: 7newspapers and access to 3.240.000people • Visual media: 21 times in 10 TV channels and total 1 hour 4min of presence • Digital media: 73different news portals • Facebook: • Number of peoplereached: 1.440.113 • Number of new members: 1.564 • Number of old members: 392 • New user number: 2.022

To Be a Part of All • We believe messages become stronger when different parts of the world come together. • Sharing information and experience is important and gives a wide vision. • Cancer has no country thus the whole world should come together to increase awareness and to fight with the disease. • We believe in what we do and we like to share what we have gained with the others.
