The Ongoing Maintenance Program • Unlimited telephone support: • A project liaison will be assigned to your facility and provide project continuity • Telephone support will be available Monday through Friday between 8 am and 5 pm CST • Your organization will have access to all existing Healthcare Concepts resources • Your staff will be able to contact the project liaison and ask any CDM related questions anytime • We will provide assistance in conducting research on CDM related topics
The Ongoing Maintenance Program Second Component Quarterly/Monthly Assessments
The Ongoing Maintenance Program • Monthly data downloads • We suggest monthly downloads for more timely management of your CDM • Our staff will provide written status summaries on request (out of cycle) • You will be able to generate on-demand reports from MedChex to evaluate and manage performance of your facility • Our standard set of reports will be generated every time a download is received and made available • All relevant transmittals from CMS will be forwarded monthly
The Ongoing Maintenance Program • The Quarterly CDM Summary Reviews • Will provide a summary assessment based on three months of data • For your convenience a matrix will be compiled that includes all key indicators • The same matrix information can be access through the Diagnostic screen within MedChex • The summary includes a written narrative of areas of concern • Our project liaison will review our findings/reports with the CDM specialist at your facility.
The Ongoing Maintenance Program • The Quarterly CDM Summary Reviews (cont) • A senior member of HC will review our findings with the CFO or designated hospital representative • We review on a line by line basis any additions to the file since the previous quarterly report. • Will identify any items that have been affected by regulatory changes.

The Ongoing Maintenance Program • MedChex Online • This is our interactive CDM management tool that allows you to: • Review at a glance status of key indicators • Review a number of financial reports that assist in the management of the revenue stream • To complete research on certain items in your CDM within the various resident data sources of MedChex

What is MedChex? • It is HC’s proprietary CDM Maintenance Software • Is capable of housing multiple CDMs • It has multiple security levels to limit and control access • Your CDM file will be housed in our servers and accessed via internet

(cont) • A a limited version of MedChex is provided in the OGM program that is simple and easy to use • It has current library materials that reflect information from the AMA, CMS, and HC. • Is capable of keeping historical data about changes • Multiple applications for the various users
MedChex Features • MedChex was written with SQL on the backend and has Access on front end • A tool such a MedChex is needed to manipulate large volume of CDM data • At any time during a CDM review, over 100,000 components may be analyzed individually • Has multiple drop-down windows that assist the user in identifying components and provide additional information about particular fields • Has various note fields where the user can document questions or other applicable information
MedChex additionalFeatures • MedChex’s allows the user to easily sort and filter your data: • Inclusive of Access features has the flexibility to manipulate desired fields quickly • Focus on specific codes, departments, or issues • Can sort data based on prices or volume • Is capable of saving pre-set filters for continuous monitoring of selected items • Print reports or send data to Excel for any subset of the data you have selected
MedChex Accessibility • MedChex Online is available through the Internet. To connect to it, you will require: • A high-speed internet connection • A standard PC running Windows 98, 2000, or XP • Placement of Remote Access Icon on your desktop * HC will work with your IS staff to set up your connection and work out all logistics before you are ready to use it
MedChex Accessibility • You will have a “Remote Access” icon placed on your computer desktop. • Double-Click on it to initiate the connection. • A prompt will ask you to log onto HC’s network. • We will provide you with a username and password. • Once you log in you the MedChex title screen will appear.

How do I get into the program? (cont.) • Click the Local Resources tab then check the Disk drives and Printers boxes, (after the first time you connect this will already be selected and you can simply choose Connect from the first box) • Click Connect – and the following screen will appear, it may take a several seconds depending upon the speed of your internet connection and your distance from Reno, NV.
Type in your user name and password, sent to you by email. Be sure to use capitals and small letters as they appear. Click OK. The Login Screen

To Create a Desktop Shortcut • Click on Start • Click on All Programs • Move the mouse pointer over Accessories, which will show additional options • Move the mouse pointer over Communications, which will show additional options • Right Click on Remote Desktop Connection, which will show additional options • Click on Send To, and choose Desktop (create shortcut) • After the desktop icon is created, right click where it says Remote Desktop Connection and change the name to Medchex.
