1. ControlSoft useable control technology featuring Digilin command set Recently, ControlSoft was installed into Burswood Casino, Perth, to control Digilin Fibre Optic lightboxes. The task was to provide an easy method of programming for on-site engineers, the lighting designers and ourselves as Dynalite Dealers. The result is, as in other ControlSoft features, an English command set specific to Digilin, using Dynalite Channel at Level messages via a DMX bridge.

2. ControlSoft useable control technology A new setup feature can be found under the Edit menu. It allows you to setup names for the three Digilin DMX channels and names for pre-determined levels for those channels. Once the setup is completed here, the Digilin boxes can be referred to in English within a ControlSoft Macro.

3. ControlSoft useable control technology Here is how you are presented with the Digilin first screen of setup. This screen essentially designates an Area and three channels to a lightbox number and gives those channels english names to refer to them

4. ControlSoft useable control technology In this example, this box has a ‘speed’ channel and two ‘colour wheels’ Once you enter the first channel, the other two are automatically given since they are consecutive.

5. ControlSoft useable control technology Press the Channel Levels button to assign some commonly used levels to this channel

6. ControlSoft useable control technology Put the level for the Channel (0-255) here The Name here Press ‘enter’ And build the list of available names/levels for this channel of this lightbox

7. ControlSoft useable control technology As you build your list for one lightbox, these settings become available in the ‘Favourites’ List so you can simply select them when setting up other lightbox channels, reducing boring typing to a minimum.

8. ControlSoft useable control technology As you find the system grows and documentation.. “doesn’t quite follow the rules”, ControlSoft quickly shows you where channels are already used and therefore also shows you what channels are still available.

9. ControlSoft useable control technology If you have followed so far, then the hard part is over. Now we move onto the familiar part of entering commands into a macro as with any other command.

10. ControlSoft useable control technology There is a new Digilin specific tab on the Macros screen. Simply select the lightbox number, the level of one or more of its channels, and enter them into the macro window

11. ControlSoft useable control technology Pull down the lists and select the levels that you want to go to, then just press enter.

12. ControlSoft useable control technology Here’s one we made earlier! Build macros hundreds of steps long to make interesting sequences. Break them into smaller sequences and then simply have a ‘Master Start’ macro which calls the smaller ones. The barrell vaults macro above consists of 98 commands.

13. ControlSoft useable control technology ControlSoft was modified specially and can now accommodate up to 20 Macros simultaneously.
