Daana • Daana purifies and sanctifies one’s wealth however meager or huge it may be. • It preserves wealth by fostering generosity. It begets a blessing that passes on to the ensuing generations. • It is the giver who should feel grateful that there are people to receive his charity. • In fact, charity is a misnomer. It definitely carries the undercurrent of a sense of superiority. The concept of Daana has a far greater magnitude and nobility of purpose. • Humility has to be the watchword. Prayerfulness must grace the mind. Thankfulness must be the attitude. Equality, impartiality, must be the canvas of vision. - Swami Bhoomananda Tirtha
Daana v/s Taxes Tax is levied by the Government through law. No body has an option in this regard. But daana is something one gives heartily to others, outside blood and matrimonial relationships, requesting the recipients to make use of it in their life. By so doing, the giver, say the scriptures, will feel immense satisfaction. This kind of voluntary sharing of wealth is far different from the payment of taxes. - Swami Bhoomananda Tirtha Anna Vastra Daana Satram at Narayanashrama Tapovanam

This is what the Participants said • “It was more fulfilling in being able to offer our oblations in a huge holy Yajna, than the satisfaction of making some charity to the poor.” • “The recipients came after taking bath, putting tilak on their forehead, in a devotional mood. The feeling was one of holiness – more like receiving prasaada than a gift.” • “This daana is a benediction for my welfare, rather than a mere material help.” • “The atmosphere, reverberating with the fervent naama-sankeertana and the inspiring hymns on daana-dharma, was so much charged with divinity.” Recipients brave it through rough weather to be blessed by Sannyaasins at Narayanashrama Tapovanam
How is it Organized • Deserving families are identified and tokens are issued in advance by volunteers. • Different distribution centres cater to different villages. • Volunteers participate in buying and packing rice and clothes. • Volunteers come up to manage the entire distribution process. Daana Enriches One’s Life No treasure can equal daana and no wealth can equal contentment. Daana results in increasing the giver’s resources. Also, the contentment daana instantly bestows, is the greatest reward of all human efforts on this earth.
