  2. Colonialism is the building and maintaining of colonies in one territory by people based elsewhere.

  3. Colonialism can be impacted by countries wanting to help out other counties, so they change rules and the community to try and make it a better place.

  4. In some cases Colonialism can be unfair to some. Countries sometimes change rules and beliefs just because they don’t understand them or think their fair. Changing someone's beliefs can result in angry people, fights and outbreaks.

  5. China is seen variously as an ancient civilization extending over a large area in East Asia

  6. China is one of the worlds oldest civilizations and is regarded as the oldest continuous civilizations.

  7. For centuries, it possessed the most advanced society and economy in the world through successive dynasties though it subsequently missed the industrial revolution and began to decline.

  8. In the 19th and 20th century, imperialism, internal weakness and civil wars damaged the country and economy and led to the overthrow of imperial rule

  9. In 1950s, change to economic policies in the Republic of China transformed the island into a technology-oriented industrialized developed economy after a period of high growth rates and rapid industrialization

  10. In mainland China, in the 1970s reforms known as the Four Modernizations modernized the agriculture , industry, technology, and defense, vastly raising living standards, and making the PRC one of the great powers.

  11. Historically, China’s cultural sphere has extended across East Asia as a whole, with Chinese religion, customs, and writing systems being adopted to varying degrees by neighbors such as Japan, Korea and Vietnam.

  12. Through its history, China was the source of many major inventions. It has also one of the worlds oldest written language systems.

  13. Ancient China was one of the earliest centers of human civilization.

  14. Chinese civilization was also one of the few to invent writing.

  15. On January 1, 1912 the Republic of China was established.

  16. The Sino-Japanese War of 193701945 forced an uneasy alliance between the Nationalists and the Communists as well as causing around 20 million Chinese civilian deaths.

  17. With the surrender of Japan in 1945, China emerged victorious but financially drained.

  18. All the power within the government of the People’s Republic of China is divided among three bodies: the Communist Party of China, the state, and the Peoples Leberation Army
