What is ASCEND? A Student Professional Organization (SPO) for accounting, finance, and other business-related majors A professional and social networking society for Asian-American students and everyone National Chapter was formed in NY in late 2004 Official launch was held August 2009
Mission Promote the development of and foster leadership skills in Asian and Pacific Islander students interested in pursuing a career in accounting and finance.
Objectives To provide additional educational opportunities for members To develop professional skills for members To provide professional and mentoring opportunities for members To encourage a continuous presence of Asian and Pacific Islanders in the accounting and finance professions To strengthen the influence and leadership of Asian and Pacific Islanders in the profession
Benefits to Students Exposure to successful role models so they realize they can be successful in the professional services environment Understand the bridge between the Asian and Western business cultures before entering the profession Scholarship opportunities Formal and informal mentoring opportunities and career advice Job search assistance (resume writing, interview tips and role plays) Invitation to professional networking events
Membership Annual dues for a student is $30 Includes membership and invitations to all Greater Philadelphia Chapter and National Chapter events
