Journalism and early novels His autobiographical novels are Oliver Twist , David Copperfield and Little Dorrit ; the protagonists became the symbol of an exploited childhood confronted with the grim and bitter realities of slums and factories. Other works include Bleak House ,Hard Times and Great Expectations ,dealing with social issues such as the conditions of the poor and the working class in general.
Christmas Carol An important novel of Charles Dickens is “Christmas Carol”. This story speaks of a bad man , Mr. Scrooge .He hates Christmas .He meets three spirits . He reflects with the spirit of his future . So he becomes good.
Oliver Twist Another important novel is Oliver Twist .Oliver lives in an orphanage until he is nine years old .Then he is obliged to work but he is treated very badly and decides to run away to London . Here he stays with Fagin and his boys , a band of pickpockets who teach him a strange game .Oliver’s life among criminals like the brutal Bill Sikes is difficult but in the end the boy finds happiness and love .
Death He died in 1870. He is considered the greatest Victorian writer because his works best reflect the complexity, excitement and disharmonies of the age.
