PINEY GROVE’S PHOTOGRAPHY CLUB Fall 2014
E N D
PINEY GROVE’S PHOTOGRAPHY CLUB • Fall 2014 • As a member of the Piney Grove Middle School Photography Club, you are in for a fun-filled and exciting Fall as you learn to operate sophisticated and easy-to-use digital and/or 35mm camera equipment. Also, you will learn to take clear and sharp photographs that all of your friends and family will view with envy! You will participate in a variety of activities: • CLUB MEETINGS will be held in September, October, November and December from 8:00-8:45 a.m. in room #2102. You will learn about the science and art of taking photographs and you will share your photos with your “clubmates” for constructive critiques. • PHOTOGRAPHY EXPEDITIONS will take place on various Saturdays throughout the first semester, around the Atlanta Metro area (and parts beyond) where you will practice your newly learned “tricks of the trade” as you compose and shoot your own unique photographs. Photography expeditions are “family affairs”…your family is most welcome, along with any friend(s) you want to bring as long as they comply with the PGMS Code of Conduct. • PINEY GROVE MIDDLE SCHOOL’S “EIGHTH ANNUAL EXHIBITION OF • PHOTOGRAPHIC ART” - This is a formal showing of your work as you create a “photographic essay” (with photographs and words) on a particular theme of your interest (more information to be discussed later). In order to ensure the smooth and orderly running of all club meetings and events, you need to be aware of a few expectations that you will be asked to follow as a member of this club: RESPONSIBLE BEHAVIOR– All participating students must follow the behavior guidelines of the Forsyth County Board of Education and Piney Grove Middle School as they take part in regular club meetings (all club meetings will last from 8:00-8:45 a.m.) and other photo expeditions and events. TRANSPORTATION – Students will be responsible for their own transportation to and from all photography expeditions. A parent must accompany a club member for the entire photo expedition. A parent may not drop a student off and return to pick him/her up later. Families are encouraged to make the expeditions “family/friend outings” with all members taking photos together. EQUIPMENT – Students are responsible for providing their own camera, camera equipment, digital memory card and/or film and print development. Students should bring their camera and equipment to school on club meeting days only when requested, and should check them in with Ms. North or Mr. Reed for safe keeping after the club meeting until the end of the school day. Club time will be mostly for learning about the photographic process, composition techniques, and picture taking tips. We will have guest speakers at some meetings. (Over)
