Goals for today: • Get to know one another. • Learn our rules, responsibilities, and procedures. • Check out the class website • For tomorrow: • Show parent/guardian syllabus and get it signed • Get a 3 ring binder if possible
Syllabus Discussion • Please follow along with me as I go over class expectations, rules, responsibilities and procedures. • It will be a good idea to keep this syllabus in the front of your 3 ring binder this semester.
Supplies Needed • 3 ring binder • Writing utensil • hand sanitizer, hand soap, or tissue (Extra Credit) • Willingness to learn & complete classwork • Open mind & positive attitude
Ms. Moore’s Responsibilities • Be respectful of YOU • Show YOU that I care • Provide an orderly, positive environment • Provide appropriate motivation • Teach the required content and life skills
It’s all about…RESPECT • We could learn a lot from crayons…some are sharp, some are pretty, some are dull, some have weird names, and all are different colors…but they all exist nicely in the same box!

Absences and Tardies • It is important to be in class each day! • If you are late to class or absent, I can’t teach you!

Make-up Work • Make-up work is for students who are absent from class or who worked hard in class but did not have time to finish the assignment. • Students who are absent have 2 days to make it up for full credit. • Tests can be made up & I prefer to have students stay on Mon. MGS or Tues. Tutorial.

Do not write on the desks. • Please put away trash and materials. Only paper goes in the recycle bin. • Push up chairs. Shutdown your computer, and do not line up at the door!
Be Polite…germ patrol • Please cover your mouth when you cough or sneeze. • Please wash your hands often or use sanitizer. • You may step in the hall if you need to blow your nose. • Tissue should be on the center table.

Computers… • Follow wcpss rules Failure to do so can result in suspension. • Games and surfing the Internet will do MUCH DAMAGE to your grade.
More Guidelines…Printing • Please do not print things unrelated to our class without permission. • If your document does not print promptly, do not click print again! • You may load paper in the bottom tray. It will hold an entire ream of paper at a time.
More Guidelines • Hall Passes • You must have a written pass to leave the room. • Only one student may leave the room at a time. • Do not abuse hall passes!
More Guidelines… • Be Neat! • Always do your best work! • Your work is your self-portrait! • Neatness helps your grade!
More Guidelines • Paper Heading • Please always include your name, date, and class period. If your name is not on your paper, it will be thrown away.
More Guidelines • Trash and Garbage Disposal • Please do not dirty up my classroom and do not get up in the middle of my instructions or discussions. • Recycle bin by the door is for paper only!
More Guidelines • Turning in assignments • Please put all assignments in the correct tray 1st, 2nd, 3rd. • Located on the table. • Incomplete work can go in the incomplete tray. • After an absence, handouts will be in the “To Return” tray. • The textbooks will remain in the classroom at all times.
More guidelines…the phone • The classroom phone is for my use only.
More Guidelines…Fire drills • Please exit the room quickly. • Go to the right & down the hall to exit doors on right. • Do not stand in the parking lot and block potential fire trucks.
Consequences • Verbal warning • Conference with student and notify parent • Discipline referral to administration
Grading Scale for each quarter • Tests/Projects 40% / 40% • Class work / homework 20%
Semester Grade • 1st quarter grade 40% • 2nd quarter grade 40% • VoCATs exam 20%
Unit Tests… • Test questions will come from your handouts and powerpoints. Keep them in your notebook!
End of Quarter & NB Checks • Week of Oct. 29th • Week of Jan. 21st
Recommendations… • Maintain notebook with notes • Finish class work each day! • TRY! Do your best!! • Study for tests ! • Do well on the VoCATs final exam 20% of semester grade!
Ultimately… • Listen to me. • Be respectful. • Be organized. • Try your best! • You will be successful!
