  4. 2 Timothy 3:16 • All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness

  5. What the Bible is • God inspired (breathed into) the human writers

  6. 1 Corinthians 2:13 • This is what we speak, not in words taught us by human wisdom but in words taught by the Spirit, expressing spiritual truths in spiritual words.

  7. What the Bible is • God inspired (breathed into) the human writers. • God chose every word of the Bible. This is called verbal (word for word) inspiration.

  9. What the Bible is • God inspired (breathed into) the human writers. • God chose every word of the Bible. This is called verbal (word for word) inspiration. • All Scripture is 100% true and from God.

  10. Luke 16:19-31 • "He [the rich man] answered, `Then I beg you, father, send Lazarus to my father's house, for I have five brothers. Let him warn them, so that they will not also come to this place of torment.' "Abraham replied, `They have Moses and the Prophets; let them listen to them.'

  11. What the Bible is • In it God tells us all we need to know about him and our salvation.

  12. I warn everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: If anyone adds anything to them, God will add to him the plagues described in this book. For prophecy never had its origin in the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit. Revelation 22:18 2 Peter 1:21

  13. What the Bible is • In it God tells us all we need to know about him and our salvation. • The Bible is the Word of God and is not to be tampered with.

  14. Therefore no one will be declared righteous in his sight by observing the law; rather, through the law we become conscious of sin. For the wages of sin is death Romans 3:20 Romans 6:23a

  15. The Value of the Bible • It gives us God’s Law (commands), which show that we are sinful and condemned to death and need a Savior.

  16. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord. For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. Luke 2:11 John 3:16

  17. The Value of the Bible • It gives us the Gospel (Good News), which shows us we have a Savior and gives us faith in him.

  18. Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word of Christ. I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile. Romans 10:17 Romans 1:16

  19. The Value of the Bible • It leads us to trust in Jesus as our personal Savior.

  20. All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work. Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path. 2 Tim. 3:16-17 Psalm 119:105

  21. The Value of the Bible • It leads us to trust in Jesus as our personal Savior. • It guides us in a Christian life of thankful service.

  22. Acts 17:10-11 • As soon as it was night, the brothers sent Paul and Silas away to Berea. On arriving there, they went to the Jewish synagogue. Now the Bereans were of more noble character than the Thessalonians, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true.

  23. How we should use the Bible • Read and study it prayerfully in private

  24. Hebrews 10:25 • Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another--and all the more as you see the Day approaching.

  25. How we should use the Bible • Read and study it prayerfully in private • Gladly hear and learn it in church, publicly
