1 Peter 2:9 • 9 But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. • 10 Once you were not a people, but now you are the people of God; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.

Jesus in the Marketplace Of Jesus’ 132 public appearances, 122 were in the marketplace. • Of 52 parables Jesus told, 45 had a workplace context. • Of 40 miracles in the book of Acts, 39 were in the marketplace. • Jesus spent his adult life as a carpenter until age 30 when he went into ministry in the workplace. • Work, in its different forms, is mentioned more than 800 times in the Bible • The disciples came from their jobs. They weren’t clergy. • God created work and He is a worker. “My father is always at his work to this very day, and I too, am working” (John 5:17).
