1. International workshopon amorphous computing & complex biological networks VENUE: THE HALIFAX, ENDCLIFFE VILLAGE, SHEFFIELD, S10 3ED, UK, on 17-20th AUGUST 2010 SCIENTIFIC DETAILS The theme of the meeting will be all aspects of Complex Biological Networks and Amorphous Computing. This will include games on networks, network communication, network structure and growth, spatial and temporal aspects of networks, the use of network theory in biology, computing, economics and social science, and inspiration for tools in network theory derived from biology, computing, economics and social science. The meeting will fall within the framework of the EPSRC AMORPH project (http://www.amorph.group.shef.ac.uk/), and our 6 Plenary speakers will be funded from that source. The Amorph project is taking inspiration from various areas of biology to suggest mechanisms whereby randomly distributed processing units can self-assemble to form effective computing and communication networks. Lead researchers from the project will present results on network theory interfacing with developmental biology, epidemiology, communication, sensor networks. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ There will be the opportunity for participants to present papers, either orally or as posters.
