Goals • Capitalize on Mason Inn as catalyst for attracting meetings and conferences to campus • Generate revenues to support Mason annual events budget • Promote the university and all it has to offer: event venues; entertainment; recreation; and beautiful campus setting to a key target market
Building the Operation • A well-functioning conference operation has four legs of support: • Supportive University Policies • Highly Skilled & Integrated Events Management Operation • Effective Marketing • Competitive Pricing
Supportive University Policies • Centralized Scheduling (in progress) • Space Use Policy revision (completed) • Major Events Group (established)
Events Management Operation • New structure for events management on campus (in progress) • Streamlining event logistics and support operations on campus (in progress)
Effective Marketing • Strong partnership with the Mason Inn (ongoing) • Positioning George Mason University to key targets: academic, government, youth leadership (in progress)
Competitive Pricing • Establish and enforce rental rates for all venues (complete) • Develop “package” and one-stop pricing for university venues and services to simplify client proposals (in progress)

Vision By 2014 George Mason University will be a “first choice” meeting and conference destination for high profile organizations coming to the DC metro region, known for its excellent service, creative approach to event planning and beautiful facilities that can accommodate the business and social program of any major event.
