AT&T Launches…Operation Hand Salute • Since its inception in 1993, AT&T has been a pioneer and leader in promoting contracts with Disabled Veteran Business Enterprises (DVBEs). • In April 2010 the Supplier Diversity team launched a unique mentoring program called Operation Hand Salute or OHS to support DVBEs. • The purpose of the program is not only to develop and promote DVBEs but also to insure that 1.5% of AT&T’s purchase base are DVBEs and that we help these mentees advance their business to the next level.

Blueprint for the OHS Program • Advocacy: armed with knowledge on DVBE regulations, resources, advocacy groups, mentees will be better prepared to advocate for their value proposition • Awareness: increased awareness of procurement processes and supply chain requirements will make the mentees more competitive in the bid process • Innovation: working with mentors, to understand how to sustain their business in an ever challenging economic environment • Training: 9 - TL 9000 Classes, 8 – Workshops • Partnerships: Create networking opportunities through various resources (Primes, mentors, etc)
Blueprint for the OHS Program – Cont. • Accountability: Monthly status reports ensure that the Mentor and Mentee are working together on an action plan to insure success of the program and establish key follow-up items • Recognition: Participants will be prominently identified in program materials and have opportunities to interact with key AT&T leaders
Ultimate Success • Milestones • AT&T Supplier Diversity team brings awareness to the public and to external stakeholders that we are innovators in this segment. • Create a model program that other Fortune 500 companies can follow. • The seven mentees will be able to participate in opportunities within AT&T’s supply chain and promote the program in the community. • AT&T continues to be recognized nationally as a top corporation for its longstanding commitment to DVBEs in our supply chain. • Mentors and Mentees continue to develop and succeed in business.
