  3. Van een lege Kuip naar een kolkende massa. Vijftigduizend mannen, vrouwen en kinderen. Zoveel mensen wonen er ook in Woerden. Zo’n volksverhuizing voor en na de wedstrijd is een uitgelezen klus voor de logistieke specialisten van Nederland. In een van de dichtstbevolkte landen van de wereld is slim organiseren tot een kunst verheven. Begonnen uit noodzaak profiteren we nu van een internationale voorsprong. Dat maakt Nederland de beste plek om het vak te leren. Hier kun je echt groeien, tot ver over de grenzen. Want logistieke specialisten zijn net zo gewildalsNederlandsevoetbaltrainers

Domain • Operations Management & Logistics deals with the modeling, analysis and management of operational business processes, i.e. processes that are essential in delivering a product or service to a customer • Manufacturing • Production control and production management • Services • Workflow modeling and workflow management • Health care operations management • Logistics • Supply chain management, inventory management • Transportation optimization

International and diverse environment • Annual intake 60-80 students (80% in Fall semester) • 25% international • 20% from other programs than TU/e BSc IE&MS • Exchange students (total at school incoming 40-50 per semester) • Faculty (mentors): 20% international • …. and of course we stimulate you to spend a semester abroad

Double degree programs • Grenoble INP • 2 semesters @ TU/e, 3 semesters in Grenoble • Need to know French language • 3 diplomas: TU/e MSc, INP Master de Recherche, INP Diplome d’ingenieur • Logistics/SCM and Product design • Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology • 2 semesters @ TU/e, 3 semesters in Daegu, Korea • Program in English • Workflow management is key area at KAIST

Double degree program: UvT • Operational Finance • 5 semesters: 3.5 semesters at TU/e; 1.5 semesters at Tilburg University • Can only be combined with specific mentors in OPAC group • Tilburg Master: Finance with focus on quantitative courses • Train engineers that can work with finance techniques in an operations environment • Risk management • Real options • Working capital structure

En schipperend met de ruimte hebben we slim organiseren tot een kunst verheven. Begonnen uit noodzaak profiteren we nu van een internationale voorsprong. Dat maakt Nederland de beste plek om het vak te leren. Hier kun je echt groeien, tot ver over de grenzen. En soms maak je zelfsnieuwelandsgrenzen.

Honors track in research • Consists of: • Two mini-research projects to discover two different reseach fields, in 1st year (10 ects per project) • PhD courses, in 2nd year (10 ects in total) • Master thesis project: • Is preceded by the writing of a PhD research proposal (instead of literature study and formulation thesis assignment) • Proposal can be used to compete for grants (at e.g. NWO) • Master thesis is on first part of the PhD research proposal • Additional PhD courses can be followed in 2nd year of master, as part of the electives

Honors track in research: Advantages Development of extra research skills Ideal preparation for continuation as PhD student after completion of the master program Equivalent to research (Mphil) masters, as seen at Tilburg University and Erasmus University Priority for positions within the PhD program of Industrial Engineering PhD program can be done in 3 instead of 4 years
