Process Binding allows the client to be used for collaborative processes, offline data collection, user controlled mail merge and business user reporting via Excel 2007 just to mention a few of the ways it can be used. They can then use the reporting capabilities in Excel 2007 to build reports, charts and active dashboards. If the data is live linked, then whenever the user opens the file, they will be prompted if they want to refresh the data. By the way, all of this data is delivered through the BPM Process Engine and so the user does not need to be provided with access to the database. I have used the Metastorm Office Activator to activate the process that I am reporting on here for Smart Tags. Clicking on the cell displays the Smart Tag menu and allows me to open the BPM folder that this row in the spreadsheet relates to. And if I have the correct authority in the role security matrix, I can take actions on the folder, There are many uses for this. For example, you may want to define a grid that lists the folders that are within a day of breaching a service level agreement. Bind this to a spreadsheet and activate SmartTags and you can mail an action list to a manager. We have added a new Process Orchestrator in this release, a PO for Workflow foundation, which amongst other things provides access to the business rules engine and composer in Microsoft Workflow Foundation.[Technical] Many organizations have a requirement to make complex calculations in a Business Rules Engine but don�t want to go to the expense of purchasing a Fair Issac or a iLog.
