e-Portfolio • RCGP-based, in e-format • Goes live in August • Must not store patient-identifiable information. • Trainer can save or print copy for own training record.
e-Portfolio contains domains for entire record (journal essentially), PDP, evidence (case-based discussions, mini-CX etc), curriculum, clinical skills log (includes mandatory skills log such as prostate examination, cervical smear)… Curriculum domain looks at areas covered that link to specific curriculum areas.
Onus on registrar to compile and update record Each entry “signed off” by clinical supervisor or trainer Each six months portfolio is reviewed and signed off by Educational Supervisor *** Each year Deanery Panel reviews portfolio and issues certificate of satisfactory completion (or other) The e-portfolio can only be signed off as a completed record of training once the AKT and CSA have been passed.

Case-Based Discussion • This is designed to test 10 of the 12 prescribed competencies from the RCGP Core Curriculum Statement, “Being a General Practitioner.” • The 10 compentencies are:
Competencies Tested in CBD • Practising holistically • Data gathering and interpretation • Making diagnoses/decisions • Clinical management • Managing medical complexity • Primary care administration and IMT • Working with colleagues in teams • Community orientation • Maintaining an ethical approach to practice • Fitness to practice
Assessing Competencies Each competency is assessed as being either: • Insufficient evidence or not assessed • Needs further development • Competent • Excellent

Performing the Interview • Structured question guidance is provided to produce questions testing each competency. • A list of generic questions are provided which we think are actually more useful!
Performing the Assessment • The assessment takes the form of a structured interview. • The registrar selects 4 cases for assessment and presents the relevant records to the assessor one week prior to the assessment. • The assessor selects two of the cases for discussion • By the 30th month of training 12 cases will have been assessed • Prior to the Final Review a minimum of 12 more cases will have been reviewed
