  3. Inertial Profiler in lieu of California Profilograph • California Profilograph utilizes a center wheel • Inertial Profiler utilizes an accelerometer and laser • Measures at highway speed • No lane closures required

  4. Inertial Profiler Specifications • Equipment and Operator certification performed by Texas Transportation Institute • In accordance with AASHTO PP 49-08 • Local Calibration at the project • 5 Runs • 0.92 correlation • In accordance with AASHTO PP 50-08

  5. Inertial Profiler Specifications • Index Acceptance Criteria • International Roughness Index (IRI) in lieu of Profile Index • Acceptance between 45.1 and 60 in/mi • Bump Acceptance Criteria • Localized Roughness in lieu of bump must grind • IRI of 140 in/mi within a 25 foot measurement

  6. Inertial Profiler Specifications • Analysis Tools • Vendor analysis tool • Proval analysis tool • Provides reports that include data required in the contract

  7. Incentive/Disincentive • Measurements based on 0.1 mile lots • Incentive is paid for IRI < 45.1 in/mi • Disincentive pay adjustment for IRI > 60 in/mi • Correction required for IRI > 75 in/mi to within the acceptable range
