Flimkien ma’ awturi oħra waqqaf ix-Xirka għat-Tixrid tal-Ilsien Malti fl-1939. Chetcuti kien ukoll Segretarju tal-Għaqda tal-Kittieba tal-Malti. Fil-kotba tiegħu, Ġużè Chetcuti juri l-faqar li sofrew il-Maltin matul l-ewwel snin tas-seklu 20. Kiteb ukoll xi drammi li nħadmu fuq it-televixin Malti. Kotba magħrufa ta’ Ġużè Chetcuti: “L-Isqaq”, “It-Tnalja”, “Il-Kerrejja”, “Meta telgħet ix-xemx”, “It-Tabib Fonzin u stejjer oħra”.
