Character Is Power - Booker T. Washington
Definition Of Character The word “character” comes to us from a Greek verb that means making a furrow, cutting a groove, or putting a scratch on something as a mark. In the light of its origin, we may think of character as that which puts its mark on a human being. Character is what makes you “what you are” as distinct from other persons. The individual is little more than a “bundle of feelings” unless there is some central loyalty within creating order out of the “chaos of the soul.” Character signifies the organization of life and behavior around a central loyalty, which has ethical worth and validity.

Be a Hero! • Interestingly, the original meaning of the word hero comes from the Greek root servos and heros, which means ‘to serve and protect’ • Self-sacrifice for the higher good and betterment of humanity is at the heart of being a Hero or Leader.
Serve to be a Hero Leader I want to point out here that the root definition of hero centering on self-sacrifice and service to others is incredibly important in our development. It implies that the seeds of greatness lie within us all, and that we can all endeavor to become the heroes we were truly meant to be. Martin Luther King Jr. really brought home this point when he declared, ‘Everyone can be great because anyone can serve. You don’t have to have a university degree to serve. You only need passion and the right motive.
The miracle power that elevates the few is to be found in their industry, application, and perseverance, under the promptings of a brave determined spirit. Mark Twain
