Check and Repair Geometry tools in ArcMap 10.0 In ArcMap 10.0 and Toolkit 6.0 labels may draw incorrectly or incompletely. This may be fixed by using the Repair Geometry tool. This document will help you find and run the tool. 1 1. The current problems with labeling in ArcMap 10 / Toolkit 6 are probably due to errors in the Base Layer geometry. Each layer may have errors, so they must be handled individually. 1
2. Open ArcToolbox, then look in: Data Management Tools > Features . Double-click on the “Check Geometry” tool. 2
3. In the Check Geometry window use the drop-down menu to select the layer; in this example: practice_instance_polygon. 3
4. Accept the Output Table default location, and click on OK. 4
5. When the process is complete a notification will appear at the lower right of you screen, and the table will appear at the bottom of the Table Of Contents. 5
6. Right-click on the name of the table, and select Open. In this example there are nine errors. The Repair Geometry tool will be used to make corrections. 6
7. In ArcToolbox double-click on the Repair Geometry tool. 7
8. In the Repair Geometry window use the drop-down menu to select the layer; in this example: practice_instance_polygon. 8
5. When the process is complete a notification will appear at the lower right of you screen. We recommend that you save your work, close Toolkit, re-open Toolit, synchronize if asked to, then try re-labeling the layer.
