Hands On – Logging on to eSIS TRAIN • Logon to eSIS using TRAIN logons • Change Password • Write password on training logon sheet • Change password • Exit eSIS TRAIN • Log back into TRAIN with new password • Navigate in Teacher Assistant • Review Query in Student Demographics (F7 / F8 ; % = wild card; sort columns)
eSIS Questionnaire Responses to questionnaire must follow DOE Attendance Procedures Administration will determine how attendance will be taken at your school: teachers, office staff, or a combination of both Attendance training for teachers will incorporate procedures and policies set by the DOE and Administration Refer to Questionnaire: Taking Attendance, Questions 1-12

Attendance Helpful Hints: • Before taking attendance, be sure to select the correct class on the Teacher Assistant start screen • If a student is late, check “L” for late in the A/L column. • If a student is absent, check “A” for absent in the A/L column.
Attendance Helpful Hints (cont): • Do NOT put a checkmark in the “A” or “L” columns if student is on a Field Trip or an Authorized School Activity. • If a student is marked absent in any class, the name will be shown in purple italics for all other classes. • Request for School Specific Attendance Reasons can be submitted by your school’s principal.
Hands On – Teacher Attendance in TRAIN • Unlock Workstations • Verify Classes, Today’s Classes, and Current Students are selected • Highlight Course/Period to take attendance • Click on List button • Verify the Attendance date • Mark Student with an Absent or Late • Click on Attendance Completed checkbox • Save
Closing eSIS • Log out of eSIS completely by exiting through the blue door • Give TRAIN Logon Sheets to your school’s eSIS Security Contact

Recommendations • Conduct Overview Training during SY 2007-08 • Review and/or revise eSIS Questionnaire to determine school procedures prior to conducting teacher training Note: Email revised questionnaire to: Help eSIS (attention: Maryanne Lee) • Conduct Attendance Training at the beginning of the SY 2008-09
Train Logon Sheets • Teacher Logon Sheets per school = 30 • Train database: https://esistrain.k12.hi.us:7777 • Give all TRAIN Logon Sheets to your school’s eSIS Security Contact. • Logons should be checked / tested before conducting TA Training
