Seven (7) independent Provincial Associations and four (4) Regional Associations from the remaining two (2) of the nine (9) Provinces of the country, now constitute the Council. • These eleven (11) organizations have ninety (90) independent Branches. NCPPDSA STRUCTURES VOLUNTEERS IN MANAGEMENT

  6. NCPPDSA is a major role player in the process of providing accessible vehicles to persons with disabilities NCPPDSA form part of the ACSA Accessibility Advisory Forum NCPPDSA ACCESSIBLE TRANSPORT

Services vary from one branch to another depending on the need in the community and the affordability of the service • Social work and counseling; • Community work – facilitating new projects and services; • Residential homes; • Day care centers for children; • Protective workshops; • Entrepreneurial groups; • Specialized transport; • Community care services – information services, attendantcare and support groups; • Employment placement; • Education – annual Cerebral Palsy Conference and coordination of special schools; • Motor and assistive device imports and parking disks; • Assistive device hire and repair etc. NCPPDSA constituent organizations render a range of services i.e. :

Tertiary Education Institution: RAU Degree: B Comm – Industrial Psychology Duration: 3 years Status: Currently completing 3rd year NCPPDSA presents SENSITISATION Workshops to interested employers regarding accommodation of persons with Disabilities in the workplace Tertiary Education Institution: RAU Degree: B Comm – Industrial Psychology Duration: 3 years Status: Currently completing 3rd year NCPPDSA share information with South African Unions during workshops. This enable unions to give persons with Disabilities proper support and advice.

SAQA REGISTRATION of sensitization and development program • SAQA: 114934: Explain The Concept Of Disability And The Associated Challenges For An Organization (4 Outcome) • SAQA: 114933: Identify The Risks Associated With Disability In Your Own Life (4 Outcomes) NCPPDSA TRAINING AND LEARNERSHIPS Quote from INDS People with disabilities need to be targeted for 'learnerships'.(51) This may require adjustments to the built environment and the acquisition of specialised equipment and technology for training and assessment. Rehabilitation workers can play an important role in facilitating the accommodation of disabled people in 'Learnerships' within the open labour market.

  13. SAQA REGISTRATION Qualification for LIPSPEAKERS and TOTAL COMMUNICATION FACILITATORS A curriculum development workshop will be held on 7 & 8 November 2006 in Bloemfontein. Main item on agenda is the development of standard units as this is the first such course in SA • NCPPDSA provides • services, guidance and support • to persons who • became deaf later in their lives • persons who are hard of hearing, • but • do NOT make use of sign language NCPPDSA HEARING LOSS LATER IN LIFE (POST-LINGUAL DEAFNESS) NCPPDSA manager, Mr Fanie du Toit, was a presenter at the Mental Health & Deafness World Congress. Worcester. 26 - 30 October 2005. 17 Action plans were determined i.e. database and curriculum development NCPPDSA and the NID (National Institute for the Deaf) in Worcester signed a MOU to further services to persons with hearing loss later in life
