Why do we Reflect? • To identify learning needs • To identify new opportunities for learning • To identify new courses of action or in making decisions • To explore alternative ways to solving problems • For personal and professional development • To demonstrate competence to others • To highlight achievements • To build theory from observations • A requirement of professional bodies such as the Health Professions Council and Institute for Learning to meet CPD/registration requirements (Jasper, 2003)
