Clearing and Adjustment 2017 What to do if you need to change your University place.
Reasons you may be entered into Clearing: You did not meet the conditions of your firm or insurance choice. You declined all your earlier offers on UCAS You were not made any offers originally You completely change your mind and do not want to accept either your firm or insurance choice (if you just want to change to a similar course at the same University then this does not required clearing and you should contact the University directly) Be warned, you need a good reason to reject your firm choice, such as no longer wishing to live away from home, a family move, complete career change that your original Uni can not provide for, being given a bursary else where. They will want a reason before they put you into clearing so have a good one ready.
What to do on results day if you go into Clearing DON’T PANIC AND ACCEPT THE FIRST PLACE YOU ARE OFFERED!! Make sure you have looked through the clearing list and highlighted your top five choices. Then have a look on the University websites at the entry requirements. Just because it is clearing it doesn’t mean they will always lower their requirements. When you talk to Universities make sure you quote your UCAS ID and clearing number and have a copy of your personal statement, you may need to convince them to take you so be compelling. If I am your nominated contact on UCAS I can talk to UCAS/Universities as well on your behalf. You can only add one choice at a time so you should have already talked to the University and confirmed that they will accept you. Make sure you write down who has given you the offer over the phone. You have a few hours between getting your results before you can add choices onto UCAS so take your time and speak to a few Universities. Once you have a place contact the school and student finance to let us know.
Adjustment 2017 Adjustment is used if your results are much better than expected and you want to change University to one with higher entry requirements. It is open from results day and is optional. If you do not find a better place you will keep your original firm choice. You must have exceeded your firm offer to be put into Adjustment. You will see the option to register for Adjustment on UCAS track from results day.
How Adjustment works There's no vacancy list for Adjustment – you'll need to check course details using the search tool and contact Universities to talk about any possible vacancies. You could use the clearing list but this will not show all vacancies. Tell them you're applying through Adjustment and give them your Personal ID. (They won't be able to see your application unless you've registered.) They'll check you've met and exceeded your conditions. Talk to them about course vacancies, but be careful to confirm that you're just gathering information at this stage. Only verbally agree an offer with a university or college if you're absolutely sure you want itbecause they will change your UCAS status at this point and you can’t change your mind.
