24 January – IB Economics • Hand back student reflections • Analyze positive externalities of consumption • Find an article on externalities and do a short analysis - Period 8 = E010 (Ref: 8327) What are positive externalities of consumption? What could be done to increase them?
Positive Externalities of Consumption • What are examples of positive externalities of consumption (PEC)? • How can PEC be shown on a diagram? • How can PEC be increased? What are the advantages and disadvantages of each option?
Examining Real World Examples of Externalities • Choose an article on externalities. (We’ll discuss how to find one.) • Read the article. • Use diagrams to analyze the externality. • Referring to the diagram, explain the current situation and what the proposed remedy is. If there is no remedy mentioned in the article, please propose your own. (There is no word limit, but you needn't write a long explanation.) • Submit both a copy of the article and your diagrams/explanations.
