What is it? • A narrative is : a piece of text which tells a story and, in doing so, entertain or informs the reader or listener. • Example of narrative: • Short story • Novel • Bedtime story • Science fiction • Historical fiction • Etc.
Generic Structure • Orientation tells who is in the story, when and where the story is happening. • Complication sets off a chain of events that influences what will happen in the story. • Sequence of events where the characters react to the complication. • Resolution in which the characters finally solve the complication. • Coda provides a comment or moral based on the story. (optional)
Language Feature • Simple past tense • Specific character • Descriptive words • Using temporal conjunction • Verb processes
