Film Developing – B & W The process by which the latent image in an exposed photographic emulsion is converted into a visible image is called developing. The image obtained is in reverse tone & hence termed negative.
Film Developing – B & W During developing a B & W exposed film passes through the following stages :- 1. Developer – converts the exposed silver halides into black metallic silver of different density. 2. Stop bath – Stops the action of the developer. 3. Fixer – Dissolves the unexposed silver halides. 4. Wash - To wash the traces of fixer.
Film Developing – B & W Developing time depends on :- 1. Nature of developer – Different formulae of developers have different developing times. 2. Temperature - More the temperature less the developing time & vice versa. 3. Film Speed – More the film speed more the time. 4. Dilution of developer – More the dilution more the time.
