  1. COMPARISON OF THE ANTIMICROBIAL Susceptibility PATTERN OF Pseudomonas aeruginosa ISOLATED FROM SPUTUM OF PATIENT HOSPITALIZED AT DR.SAIFUL ANWAR GENERAL HOSPITAL IN YEAR 2009 AND 2011 By: PriiyaAshiwini Krishnan 0910714013 Pembimbing 1 : Dr. Dra. 2. INTRODUCTION

  3. Background

  4. Benefits of Research

  5. CONCEPTUAL FRAMEWORK

  6. Hypothesis • There Is changes in resistance of Pseudomonas aeruginosaisolated from sputum of patient hospitalized at Dr.Saiful Anwar General Hospital towards antimicrobial from year 2009 compared to 2011.

  7. Research results In total sample of 2766 in 2009 , 121 infected by P.aeruginosa In total sample of 2987 in 2011 , 157 infected by P.aeruginosa

  8. Male >

  9. DISCUSSION

  10. 1) GENDER • Male > Female - Health behavior - health condition • Immune system and X chromosome 2) AGE • Adult group (19-59 yo) *Previous severe childhood respiratory infections associated with a lower level of adult lung function

  11. 3)Amoxilin- clavunic acid B-lactamase Mechanism of resistance : • hyper production of chromosomal β-lactamase • the production of inhibitor resistant TEM (IRT)

  12. 4) Cephalosporin: Cetriaxone, cefotaxime, cefuroxime ESBL • Hydrolyzing and inactivating beta lactams • Results from mutation of TEM 1,TEM 2,SHV 1 5)Tetracycline Efflux mechanism: 1)efflux pump for active extrusion of drug

  13. 6) Ceftazidime • active against Pseudomonas aeruginosa • more complex moiety (containing two methyl and a carboxylic acid group) • confers extra stability to β-lactamase enzymes.

  14. Therapy

  15. WHY RESISTANCE??

  16. Conclusion SIGNIFICANT IN RESISTANCE

  17. SUGGESTION

  18. Combat drug resistance: no action today, no cure tomorrow THANK YOU…
