High School Starts in Middle School The following courses are part of your high school transcript, high school ranking and high school GPA • Pre-AP Spanish 3 • AP Spanish 4 • PE Foundations • Keyboarding • Algebra or Pre-AP Algebra • Some Specific Technology Courses
Biggest Factors of College Admission • Rigorous Courses Taken • Scores on AP, SAT, ACT • Experiences/Involvement (Resume) • Class Ranking • Ex: UT Austin- Top 7% or 95% average All of these can start happening now!
High School Classes • All classes are based on one semester • All classes are worth .5 credit • A pair of related classes creates a course (example: Algebra 1A and 1B) • Most courses are two semesters long • Grades: • 45% of grade is each nine weeks, • 10% is final exams Bonus Points: Given to Pre-AP and AP courses (see brochure)

Distinguished Achievement Plan(DAP)26 credits 26.0 credits (same requirements with following ) 3 years Foreign Language Advanced science and math 4 Advanced Measures (see Brochure)
DAP Advanced Measures • 4 Advanced Measures are required to be considered for DAP: • Research project • GT Independent Study • College Level Test Data • AP EXAMS scoring 3 or better • Commended National Merit Scholar, Natl. Hispanic Scholar, Outstanding Negro Students Scholar • College Courses: • Dual Credit courses which score 80% or higher
End of Course STAAR Exams • Students must pass the following exams to graduate (Level 2) • Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra II • English 1, 2 , 3 • World Geography, World History, US History • Biology, Chemistry, Physics Student must have Level 3 (Advanced to received DAP diploma) Algebra 2, and English 3

Goals of Dual Language Magnet Program • Dual Language Magnet school program requires students to enroll in Pre-AP, AP and/or dual credit courses • Goal is for students to graduate DAP • Goal is to Graduate with Seal of Bi-Literacy • Goal is to have mastery of most requested skill that can be used for any profession (Spanish Language) • Goal is to have enough credits for minor in Spanish in college • Goal is to work toward certification in translation • Goal is to embrace: Bilingual, Bi-cultural, Bi-literate
EPHS Dual Language: • El Paso High Dual Language Program combines to following: • Language Building Courses, (through Spanish 6) • DL Speaking and Electives, (Technology, speech, Cultural linguistics, Independent study, internship) • Dual Language Rigor (Pre-AP courses) • English Rigor (AP courses) • Student’s day goal= 50% English/50% Spanish • Magnet student DL Academic plan based on Secondary Language (L2) skill and college career interests • Student i-pads to incorporate technology and bi-literate resources
