  1. Selecting the Wrong Spill Kit Could Be Dangerous It is extremely imperative that you choose the right kind of spill kit for your facility. The chances of an unsuitable kit causing you more harm than good are quite high. Here are some of the ways in which the wrong spill kit can create problems.

  2. Incompatibility An incompatible spill kit will most likely fail to clean up the spillage effectively. A kit with limited compatibility increases the risk of harmful chemical reactions. Low Absorbency A low absorbent spill kit will hardly be of any use in a worst-case scenario. A kit that is unable to handle the right volume of spillage can be of little use during cleanup.

  3. Incompatibility A spill kit with low absorbent stock levels can lead to disastrous consequences in case of spillage. Less absorbent stock can practically render even the right spill kit equipment ineffective. Unsuitable PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) Certain spill kits come with PPE which may or may not be able to resist the chemicals/liquids used at the facility. Kits with incompatible PPE are most likely to put users in harm’s way and endanger their health.

  4. Improper Drain Protection Don’t assume that the drain protection provided in the spill kits will fit the facility drain size. Moreover, if the drain cover is not compatible with the kind of chemicals/liquids used at the facility, the spilt fluid could easily escape.
