Steps to Take • Create your test (use for pre/post) • Map each question back to course outcomes • Make sure you test over each outcome • Give the test—can use scan-tron • Then, for each student: • Count how many questions are correct for each outcome • Choose how to record the scores (3 out of 4?) (75%?)

  6. Enter Listing of Outcomes Be sure to download a new spread sheet!

  7. Data by Counting How Many Correct Out of How Many Possible For Each Outcome

  8. Or Data by % of Questions CorrectFor Each Outcome

  9. It Will Calculate Average Gains Note: I “hid” rows 21-47 and columns 17-19 to fit the slide show

  10. Summary Sheet (automatic)

  11. Don & Marla use your data to calculate how well we are supporting our Program Outcomes and Institutional Outcomes

Fill out the Commentary FormDownload a copy at: http://www.coffeyville.edu/assessment/downloads.htm • Take special note of the outcomes which were poorly achieved or mastered. • Note the performance of each student. • Consider carefully what happened in this course and if any changes are in order. • Document your thoughts on these results. • Mention any budgetary needs. • Give a copy to your division chair.
