  1. VoWLAN

  2. Antenna Choice • A standard ceiling mount diversity antenna deployment is generally best • Generally Provides the clearest path between handsets and AP • It is difficult to get even coverage in high gain antennas • Greater coverage is also less call capacity per given area

  3. WLAN coverage considerations • The AP coverage design needs to be done to match the performance of the clients and the applications they run • Determine the RF coverage of all the clients that are going to be used in the WLAN • Use data sheets to find the clients antenna gain • Use data sheets to find data rates and receiver sensitivity • Use data sheets to find channels and transmit powers • Determine what other applications and clients share the WLAN • Determine what interferes share the WLAN

  4. Cell Edge Design • Cell edge of ~67 dBm, and 20% overlap between cells are the most critical parameters • 19dBm separation is difficult to achieve in most cases

  5. DTPC is important • It sets the same transmit power on the AP and on the phones • The Unified Controller advertises it’s transmit power for the clients to learn • Prevents one-way audio • i.e., RF traffic is only being heard in one direction
