  1. Alliander & Responsible ICT Name of organisation: Alliander N.V. Responsible for Procurement: Procurement Division and CPO Division responsible for IT: IM&ICT division and CIO Division responsible for CSR: CSR department which reports directly to the board We procure and tender for our own use but also use materials to service our customers Our organisation is bound to EU procurement regulations Alliander has a CSR policy which incorporates the basic principles of ISO26000. We apply the Brundtland definition of sustainability Standards and norms we refer to: OESO, ILO, ISO We are no member of ICLEI or any other initiative for sustainable procurement. We do voluntarily use the sustainable procurement criteria of the AgentschapNL set up for government, provinces and municipalities Specific procurement policies for IT hardware: We are using the AgentschapNL criteria for IT hardware being targeted only on energy savings (energy star). All suppliers sign our Code of Conduct for Suppliers which addresses the principal social and environmental issues. We are currently developing our own criteria for ICT hardware (social | environmental) with possible criteria on human rights, labour circumstances, toxic components, design for recycling and energy use We are considering to ask bidders to sign a letter of intent regarding the provision of sustainable products as recommended in the Buy IT Fair guide, but we do not yet

  2. Alliander & Responsible ICT Our most recent tender for IT that has been concluded Year of conclusion: 2009 Contract partner: Fujitsu Services (service provider) Duration of contract: 5 years Type and volume of procured products: Laptops and support services, approximately 1.500 machines yearly Sustainability criteria that are included in the contract: AgentschapNL + ISO14001, signing our supplier code of conduct. These have been knock out criteria Monitoring of compliance to the contract clauses organised: AgentschapNL is visible on machines, ISO14001 must be proved with certificates, for the Supplier Code of Conduct we do not yet have a monitoring | auditing system set up Working relation with the IT hardware provider: CSR representative from Alliander and from Fujitsu Services have met to discuss possible ways for cooperation on IT CSR issues Sanctions for non-compliance to the contract clauses: End of contract We currently use the guide Buy IT Fair to develop our own CSR criteria for electronics contracts. It’s a good start to get a broad view on the issues related to IT, but it still needs to be translated to clear criteria which takes some effort. SOMO (Tim Steinweg) is helping us in this process

  3. Alliander & Responsible ICT Concrete tenders for IT hardware in the pipeline: mobile phones (april) and copiers|printers (end 2010) Our organisation’s ambitions to upgrade its sustainable procurement policies and practices: We strive to apply our new CSR criteria for electronics on these tenders. A trainee has been set on the copiers|printers tender to develop a sustainable policy for copiers|printers and social and environmental criteria for the procurement process so that the policy will be effected Our role in publicly furthering the objective of sustainable procurement: Our CPO is ambassador for Supply Chain Sustainability. He takes this role within and outside the organisation. We actively invite suppliers to round tables to discuss options for joint sustainability initiatives within their category. We do believe very strongly in cooperation: working on the progress of sustainable procurement together with our suppliers and sector companies
