Nuclear Power Activities • Session at NSS 2008 Dresden – big success • Cosponsor American Nuclear Society International Topical Meeting on Nuclear Plant Instrumentation, Controls, and Human Machine Interface Technology (NPIC&HMIT) April 5-9 – Not voted on to cosponsor • Cosponsor International Conference on Advancements in Nuclear Instrumentation, Measurement Methods and their Applications (ANIMMA) June 7-10 – big success • Session at NSS Orlando – not enough paper for session • Plenary speaker at NSS Orlando • Cosponsor INREC 2010? – proposed • Sessions for NSS Knoxville?
INREC 2010 http://inrec10.inrec-conf.org/ Prof. James Stubbins USA Prof. Abdallah Malkawi Jordan International Nuclear & Renewable Energy Conference INREC’10 is the first of a planned series of biennial meetings focusing on the practical aspects of carbon-free energy forms (nuclear and renewables). The meeting covers the synergetic integration of nuclear engineering with electrical power production, coupling to existing power grids and the design of smart grid systems, to intelligent instrumentation and control, and monitoring of processes relevant to radiation safety and nuclear safeguards.
INREC 2010 Topics • Nuclear Reactor Technology • Nuclear power in developing countries • Education & training • Enabling technologies for nuclear applications • Policy studies & issues • Renewable energy • Nuclear radiation and shielding • Water, Hydrogen and energy storage • Nuclear physics • Sustainable energy
INREC 2010 Proposal Motion: The Nuclear and Plasma Sciences Society technically cosponsor the INREC 2010 conference to be held in Amman, Jordan, March 21-24, 2010. Justification: • This ties in with the NPSS nuclear power initiative • This enhances our international visibility • I see value in encouraging scientific exchange in this part of the world where such meetings are rare • The topics are important and overlap will with NPSS areas of interest • I will be on the program committee.
