Construction Accidents - Infographic
This infographic, created by the associates at the Spiva Law Group, looks at the rate of truck accidents related to the construction industry. Each year, there are over 700 fatalities caused by work zone vehicle collisions. And that number just covers the fatal ties, not the injuries. Half of all of these fatal crashes involved a truck and a construction worker, and over 200 of these fatal crashes involved speeding or some other negligent behavior by the driver. Since so many fatalities occur during accidents in construction zones, drivers must be aware of this and drive carefully when passing through these areas. Here are common tips to avoid road work zones accidents; Following reduced speed limits are one tool for safety, immediate starts and stops are common in road work zones. You should be prepared for them, follow detour instructions, blind spots are important to remember, car drivers should assume that truck drivers do not seem them in merging zones, navigate slowly if the appropriate path not easily visible due to confusing cones, barriers, lane lines, etc, and pay attention to construction site roads and flaggers.
