  2. Message from our Chairman Allow me to introduce myself and my philosophy for Westoe! My name is Ian A Etchells , I am Chairman of Westoe RFC . I have played rugby all my life from the age of 5 years old. I am now a Level 2 rugby coach and currently coach the Under 14 team, as well as being a junior committee member. I am already looking forward to the coming Season as it promises across the board to be a great Season. We have a strong team of people in place to run the Mini, Youth and Senior rugby . There are several social events coming up to celebrate the Club’s 140th anniversary and the Juniors 40th anniversary plus the Rugby World Cup here in England.

  3. Our Philosophy Our philosophy for Westoe is, to gather together talented people both on and off the pitch. Treat them well and in return they try unbelievably hard – that’s the process we want to follow whether this is players, coaches ,volunteers or sponsors! We focus all of our efforts on the process, and we’re happy with the outcomes. Our process, which is key, is looking after people. We believe that you get more out of people by treating them well, by looking after them as opposed to scaring them. In a lot of teams the mantra is to ‘treat them mean to keep them keen’. Westoe are at the other end of the spectrum. We want people to feel comfortable and supported in everything they do. Not only the players, but the families, our volunteers and our mini & junior section and most of all our sponsors. We believe this is the way to get the best out of everyone.

  4. Westoe RFC Our History The history of our club is entwined with England RFU history. F.E.Chapman (a Westoe player) was the first player to score a try, a conversation and a penalty in the first international played at Twickenham. The match was England v Wales – England won. Presently we have Katie McLean (England Women’s Captain) winning the Women’s RWC in 2014 and David Wilson (England Prop no.3) hopefully winning this years RWC. However history of the club and it’s players and past glories are not as important as our present and future. Present and Future Westoe RFC does not pay players. We are first and foremost a community rugby club providing quality rugby football and social opportunities for people living in and around South Tyneside.We have a clear focus on youth and building the future strength of the club from within our own player base whilst welcoming players from other clubs that wish to progress their rugby at Westoe RFC. As a community focused club the welfare and protection of the young players is paramount and the club holds the RFU Seal of Approval for its policies and procedures. Hundreds of mini players and parents are at the club on Sundays and the highlight of the mini’s season is the annual BBQ & Presentation Day.

The packages that are available to sponsor the club are listed on the following pages but packages can be tailored to fit the sponsors requirements.

GOLD SPOSNOR PACKAGE Our Gold sponsors will receive these benefits on an annual basis:* The company logo on the 1st xv squad shirt (sleeve/back)* A one year advertising 4ft board in a prime location pitch side* Lunch for two before a first team match of his/her choice.* A sponsored first XV match with post match buffet for 20 people. * A full page advert in the match day programme for the season.* A link from our website to yours* Opportunity to purchase 2 international tickets to Twickenham for an autumn international or possibly Six Nations  * A commemorative 1st xv squad shirt COST:     £2000

Opportunity to have a discounted table of 10 at our anniversary dinner. £800.00 (first year) then £600(per year) 3 year deal = £1600 Scoreboard Sponsor • Your company logo positioned under our scoreboard for one year. • Quarter page advert in our match day programme. • Pre-match lunch for 2 at a game of his/her choice. • Link to from our website to yours. • Opportunity to have a discounted table of 10 at our anniversary dinner. £800.00(first year) then £600 (per year) 3 year deal = £1600

  12. More Opportunities Sponsor a Page Your name across the top of a page in our match programme for the season. All we would require is a donation to the club. Player Sponsor • Sponsorship of a first team squad player. • Acknowledgement in programme next to players name. • £150.00 donation There are other packages available – please speak to one of our team about these.

  13. Senior Section 1st XV Squad • We currently run 2 Senior sides most Saturdays. • Our 1st xv play in North 1 East – travelling to Northumberland, Yorkshire and Lancashire. • Our 2nd xv play in the local Candy League.

  14. Social Rugby Our 3rd / 4th Team are the social sides at Westoe RFC. They combine both youth players coming through and the more mature players who still want to put their boots on !

  15. Westoe Colts We are very proud of our colts team at Westoe. The team includes both under 17 & 18 year players who have come through our junior section. They play in the local colts league and run successful cup campaigns both locally & nationally.

  16. Mini & Youth Any social rugby club relies heavily on a strong youth & mini structure to establish a player base for the future. Westoe has an exceptionally good & inclusive youth & minis section. We have 11 youth teams.

  17. Community Involvement Westoe RFC Juniors have successfully implemented a Primary School Tag Festival to introduce rugby into local schools. With the assistance of the RFU Development Team the Festival now has 30 schools taking part. We have had the National Tags 2 Twickenham Winners for the past 3 years coming from our program. We also have coaches running Satellite Rugby Clubs in local Secondary schools.

  18. Westoe’s Future We have exciting times coming up for Westoe RFC in the next couple of seasons. We are hoping to move to a new purpose built sporting facility in the town and with this our future looks bright. It would be fantastic if you would like to join our ‘Westoe Family’ and come along on this journey with us.
