Expectations - Band Motto: 110% • Positive attitude and hard work from everyone involved • Always show respect, be prepared, and be on time. • On time = 15 minutes early • Student attendance and parent involvement are critical for our success. • Students, Staff, and Parents serve as models for music education and performance. • We are always representing OTHS and our community. • Prepare for an Amazing year!!
2018 Rehearsals – Performance Schedule • All dates are posted on Charms – • most current calendar • Major dates on band website
Summer Rehearsals– 2018 – refer to Charms Summer Rehearsals: (Milburn/Smiley campuses) • Three days per each week • All week – week and 2 days before VP Fair (on a Wednesday) • Week of July 16 – Colorguard/Percussion Camp • July 18-20 – Winds only • July 23-27; July 30- August 1 – Mandatory Band Camp • July 27 – Band Together Potluck • August 1 – Community Performance • *First rehearsal with new brass and woodwind members is Wednesday, April 4th at the Smiley Campus Band Room • Students may be chosen to play a secondary instrument. • *First colorguard rehearsal is May 1st • Percussion rehearsals start this week (Wednesday, Feb. 7th) • Drop off and pick up is in the South Lot – not by the band room
Fall Rehearsals - 2018 Fall Rehearsals: - students are bussed after 6th hour to the Smiley Campus for class. • Every 7th Hour – • Wednesdays is Wind Ensemble (in class) • Monday evenings – percussion/winds 6-8:30pm (before national competitions) • Wednesday evenings – Full Band, 6-9pm • Thursdays – afterschool until 4:30pm • Saturday Camp – August 18th, September 22nd • Weekly extended rehearsals leading up to Grand Nationals • Colorguard also has extended rehearsals as scheduled by director
Summer Performances / Football Games- 2018 Parades: • June 24th– Red Bud, IL (noon-7pm – parade is at 4pm) (fix form) • July 4th – VP Parade, Downtown St. Louis (early am – 2pm) • August 18th- O’Fallon Fest Parade (rehearsal that day) • October 3rd– Homecoming – 6pm parade (rehearse afterwards) Cardinal Game: June 12th(depart 4 – evening game) ALL Home Football Games: - call time 5pm – stay through 3rd quarter August 17th (Blue and Gold Game) Sept. 7th (Feeder Night) Sept. 14th (regular football game) Sept. 28th(Senior Night) Oct. 5th (Homecoming) *Performance spots will be determined by VP Fair. Qualifications for spots are evaluated on visual performance, music performance, and attendance.

2018-2019 OTHS Marching Panthers MARCHING BAND REGISTRATION DATES 5:30-8:30pm – Smiley Campus Dates TBD – end of April **Please have filled out and ready turn in: Commitment Form – Signed by Student and Parent Medical Form School Instrument Rental Form – available at fittings Scholarship forms will be available at fittings **Be Prepared to pay $150.00 for the first payment Cash, Check or Credit Card (3% surcharge added)
What happens at Registration/Fittings? • Turn in forms/verify information • Purchase Boutique items if necessary • Required Boutique Items are an additional cost (if needed): Shoes ($40), 2 pair Gloves ($6), Polo($17), Garment Bag ($15), Long black Socks($4) • NEW Required Rehearsal attire: Navy Shorts ($13), Navy T-shirt (8) • Optional: Band Jacket ($59); Fanny pack ($6); Knee Pads ($9) • Students must also have khakis (shorts, pants, or capris) – purchase on own • Pay 1/3 band fees or 1/3 guard fees (guard registration), confirm physical expiration date on Charms • School instrumental rental – form and supplies (mouthpieces/mutes) • Students- get fitted for uniform/shoes/shako • Parents - visit the Charms kiosk Students will not be fitted without forms or initial payment.

Staying on the Field – the 4 F’s • Fees • School Activity Fee – paid at OTHS registration July 2018 ($150 – recently updated) • Band fee (2017) - $550 ($150 paid on registration check in, second payment 5/30 - $200, final payment 6/30 -$200 ) • Guard fee - $550 (plus costume costs and boutique items) • *to remain in good performance standing all fee payments must be current • Form – Commitment and Medical forms(turn in at registration); pick up and fill out school instrument rental form. • Fysicals – current within 13 months (IHSA rule) • Failure – must pass five academic classes

Boosters Work to Minimize Impact Expected support for the program: • 1 shift for each Fall – Spring yard sale (parent and student) • 1 shift for MEMC (parent and student) • 1 shift for MCCGA (parent and student) • 2 shifts for the Craft Fair (parent and student) Additionally 1shift from any of the following (and others may be developed): • Concession Stand & Band Stand • O’That Jazz Event • Music For All Festival/IHSA Organization Contest • Trivia Night • Mattress Sale • Band Banquets • Assist fundraising chair with planned fundraisers

Seven Things Every Band Parent Should Do NOW • Access and familiarize yourself with CHARMS Office Assistant • Sign up to VOLUNTEER for an event - CHARMS • Consider private lessons for your musician. • Schedule a tune-up for your musician’s instrument. • Contact your ‘Band Together’ Lead. Texting is Great for THIS! • Come to Booster Meetings. • Attend Registration/Fittings in Spring.
