Wembley is the 2nd largest stadium in the world so I would like to see it being included in the seven wonders. It was built in 1880 to be used as a cricket pitch and then in 1923 it was turned into in a football stadium. The first name of the stadium was Imperial Stage but in the 70s it was renamed as Wembley. In 2000 Wembley stopped operating but in 2006 it opened its gates again fro the FA Final Cup.
TheArchitect of Wembley was Sir Norman Foster who designed the arc and the roof structure with the help of Partners and Populos. It cost about 798 million pounds and the new capacity of the stadium was about 90000 seats. The Stadium bow length was 1,139m and the height was 133m.Also the roof size was 50000sqm and the weight 7000000 kg.
Wembley is used is for big sports (football), rally and music events. The new Wembley is the 2nd largest stadium in the world. Inside there is a museum that you can see the whole history of Wembley and a store.
Since 1823 until now, Wembley has organized big events. Some of them are: • 1948 summer Olympic Games • 1966 World Cup • 1996 European Cup • 5 other Cup Finals • Many music concerts with famous singers all over the world • Many top football matches
1948 summer Olympic Games • 1966 World Cup
MUSIC CONCERT WEMBLEY • TOP FOOTBALL MATCHES
As Pele said “Wembley is the Cathedral of football”. With these words in my opinion Wembley must be included in the seven wonders.
