  2. What is Pro-Bono OR • Organised through the OR society • Third-sector organisations can benefit from OR consultancy at no cost • Opportunity for analysts to do OR in a different context and develop consultancy skills whilst making a difference

  3. Our Project • A community centre in the North East of England requested analytical help to demonstrate the impact of their activities • A group of Newcastle Operational Researchers collaborated on the project • We used the Social Return on Investment framework

  4. What is Social Return on Investment (SROI)? • Social Return on Investment (SROI) is a method of measuring the social and environmental impact of activities, projects and programmes and of placing a monetary value of them. • There are two methods of SROI • Evaluative • Forecast

  5. The SROI Framework • Establishing Scope and identifying stakeholders • Mapping Outcomes • Evidencing Outcomes and giving them value • Establishing Impact • Calculating the SROI • Reporting
